Elbląg, Poland - on 8th June, soldiers of the Multinational Division North East Headquarters completed their participation in the Saber Strike – 18 exercise. On this day the Armed Forces Operational Command Commander, Lt. Gen. PhD Sławomir Wojciechowski, and the U.S. Army Europe Deputy Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Timothy McGuire visited the Main Command Post. During the visit, Gen. McGuire visited the Command Post and also took part in discussing the exercise.
Saber Strike - 18 is the eighth edition of the exercise organized by the U.S. Army Europe. This year, for the first time, soldiers of the Multinational Division North East took part in that. It was the most important exercise for them since the formation of the Division Headquarters. It was also a test before the certification planned for the end of this year.
For soldiers from Elbląg, training began on 31st May. In the period preceding the active phase of the exercise (on 3rd June), they participated in the training of the Main Command Post staff. The soldiers also took part in the, so-called, Mini Exercise (preliminary exercise) during which the information flow and registration system were checked.
During Saber Strike - 18 exercise soldiers of the Division Headquarters were supported by representatives of the Multinational Corps Northeast, American soldiers from 7th Mission Support Command stationed in Kaiserslautern in Germany, as well as representatives of several Polish commands and military units. In total, over half a thousand soldiers from over a dozen European countries, as well as Canada and the United States, trained in Elbląg.
