Bemowo Piskie, Poland – during his visit, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Curtis Scaparrotti, met with soldiers of the battlegroup, which, as part of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence, is stationed in Bemowo Piskie. He emphasized that he appreciated not only the Polish Army, but also the local community and thanked for the warm reception of the battlegroup soldiers. As he said, NATO as an international organization, always tries to practice and fight together, and the main goal is to prevent a crisis and maintain peace. He added that this is what the cooperation of subunits from the countries making up the NATO battalion stationed in Bemowo Piskie serves.
Chief of Staff of the Polish Army, General Leszek Surawski, thanked the soldiers of the battalion battlegroup for their commitment, joint exercises and for what they do for the defence of NATO and Polish borders. "Thank you also for the fact that together we can improve our capabilities and combat abilities and be ready to repel any enemy attack" he said. During the visit, the Multinational Division North East Commander Brig. Gen. Krzysztof Motacki was also present.
The NATO Battalion Battlegroup, strengthening the Alliance's eastern flank, is stationed at the Orzysz Training Center of the Land Forces in Bemowo Piskie for a year. The core of the NATO battalion is made up of soldiers of the US armoured cavalry. It also includes soldiers from the United Kingdom, Romania and Croatia. The NATO battalion cooperates with the 15th Giżycka Mechanized Brigade.
