On Friday, the 9th of November, soldiers of the Multinational Division North East Headquarters (MND-NE) gathered at a solemn assembly related to November 11th. The formation begun with playing of the Polish national anthem, after which a short history related to the Polish Independence Day was presented by Col. Adam Górecki. During the event, soldiers were awarded with distinctions and appointments to higher military ranks. Division Commander, Gen. Brig. Krzysztof Motacki handed medals and acts of nominations to the distinguished soldiers.
Anthem of the United States (US) began a part of the gathering dedicated to the celebration of Veterans Day. The holiday commemorates the signing of the truce ending World War I on November 11 (at 11 o'clock). Col. Henry Dixon from US Army told the MND-NE how people in the United States pay tribute to fallen soldiers of wars.
Remembrance Day is celebrated in the Commonwealth of Nations, also known as Poppy Day, due to the habit of wearing artificial poppies attached to clothing as a sign of respect on that day. On behalf of representatives from the countries of the Commonwealth in MND-NE (Canada, the United Kingdom), Lt. Col. Adrian Grinonneau spoke. The highlight was the minute of silence, preceded by the signal "The Last Post".
Division Commander Brig. Gen. Krzysztof Motacki addressed the nations commemorating their fallen and as well as congratulate the awardees and promoted personnel.
